The design of the artist studio was to be symbiotic with the old fishing shacks that scattered down the East and West coast of Tasmania - simple wood and iron structures with push out windows and weathered timbers that live in harmony with their surroundings.

The Artist Studio and Main House are built within two areas to the West of the property with views to the North. This allowed the two structures to follow the contour of the land, the skillion roofs in scale with the tree canopy, and perfectly position to enjoy all day sun.

The art studio being the smaller building, occupies a gap in the two wooded areas of the property and forms a bridge that links the forest band. The studio affords breathtaking views, with a bridge like deck and rear verandah that houses the kitchen and bath house hinging off the enclosed portion of the verandah. This building originally became the home of Hannah, my artist daughter, who added her artistic touch with the mosaic kitchen wall and paintings which are hanging within the two structures.
